A Shot at Love is a swoony, fast-paced romance for fans of Ali Hazelwood, Hannah Grace, and anyone who believes women athletes deserve the spotlight in love stories too.

If you like women's sports (particularly the WNBA) and a little romance, you will love this book. Annie Larger plays for WNBA team the St. Louis Arrows. The team is on the hunt for their first championship. Annie is flabbergasted when there is a news/tabloid report that the owner of the St. Louis Arrows is her biological father (a fact she had never known) and that he manipulated the draft to make sure she played for his team. Enter Annie's college sweetheart, Daniel Chan. In their last year at Stanford, Daniel was out running and was struck by an auto. Following his hospitalization, he disappeared and ghosted Annie. Daniel is now the anchor of his own sports show on HBO and arrives in St. Louis to help Annie and he has some explaining to do! The characters are well written and very likeable. This is Taylor's debut novel and she's done an outstanding job.

This book was such a fun read! I’m obsessed with the fact that the woman is the big sports star. It felt so different from the usual romances and made the story super fresh. The mix of sports and romance was really cute, and I flew through it in just a couple days. If you’re into light, feel-good romance with a unique twist, definitely check this one out!

From its opening chapter, this book pulled me in, and I couldn't put it down. It is both heartfelt and compelling, highlighting a strong female lead whose resilience, complexity, and growth anchor the story. Her journey is one of strength and vulnerability. I felt invested in the main character as well as her basketball teammates from the very beginning. Plot and character development are tightly interwoven; just when you think the book is wrapping up, another twist is added to the story. The detailed description of key moments in high-stakes basketball games was so vivid that it added appeal to even a non-basketball fan. Moments of quiet reflection balance beautifully against higher-stakes conflicts, creating a rhythm that keeps readers invested until the end. Add in a love story, and this book hit all the right notes. This novel left me wanting more; more of the main characters, spin off stories with her teammates, and more from Taylor LaVonne.

I absolutely fell in love with A Shot at Love! This book is a perfect blend of excitement, heartwarming moments, and just the right amount of tension. It has all the family and relationship drama that makes a story truly captivating.

What I loved most is how it highlights women in sports—finally, a fresh spotlight on female athletes! The protagonist, Annie, is a WNBA phenom who also loves fashion and has a quirky personality that feels so real. I saw a little bit of Annie in all of us, which made the book both relatable and a fascinating glimpse into a world we don’t often get to see.

Annie is not your typical romance heroine, and that uniqueness is what made this book such a page-turner for me. The story perfectly balances romance, comedy, and sports action. It’s engaging from start to finish.

I highly recommend A Shot at Love to anyone looking for a fun, heartfelt, and empowering read!
